Join Us at the Market on the Green in Proctorsville, VT
Fridays from 4-7 PM
Join us Friday afternoons as the village green comes alive with fresh food, handmade goods, music, and connection.
The market on the green is hosted informally by individual vendors, and the space (the village green) is generously made available by the Town of Proctorsville / Cavendish, Vermont, as a way to support local small businesses and foster community connection.
Eligibility of Vendors
• All applications are reviewed and approved annually by the Market on the Green organizing committee.
• We welcome applications from vendors who produce:
- Agricultural products
- Prepared foods
- Handcrafted goods
- Community-based services
• Vendors are expected to uphold the market’s spirit of community, creativity, and local sustainability.
• Vendors must carry all necessary insurance, licenses, and permits for their products.
Eligibility of Products
• All products must be grown, crafted, or created by the vendor.
• Products must be listed in the application.
• Handmade crafts must reflect high-quality workmanship and local materials are encouraged.
• No mass-produced items, or factory-assembled goods are permitted.
• Agricultural vendors must: o Raise animals for at least 75% of their lives (if selling meat/eggs) • Priority is given to vendors using local ingredients or materials.
Vendor Conduct
• Vendors must act with honesty, courtesy, and integrity at all times.
• Respect toward fellow vendors, customers, staff, and the public is expected.
• You represent the spirit of the market—please embody our welcoming, small-town character.
Conditions of Sale
• Products must be sold by the grower/producer or someone closely involved in production.
• Vendors selling by weight must supply certified scales.
• Vendors are responsible for all required certifications and collecting VT sales tax as needed.
Market Hours & Setup
• Market runs from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM every Friday (June to mid-October).
• Vendors may begin setup at 3:00 PM. Please be ready to vend by 3:45 PM.
• Do not begin packing up before 7:00 PM.
• The market is rain or shine.
• Cancellations must be reported by 9:00 AM Thursday.
Space Allocation
• Spaces are 10' x 10'. Setup must stay within your assigned space.
• Vendors must bring all tents, tables, and displays.
• Tents must be staked or weighted down securely.
• Keep walking areas clear and ensure your area is clean and tidy upon departure.
Fees and Disclaimer for Market on the Green – Proctorsville / Cavendish
• There are no fees to participate, we do this to support our small businesses and community.
• Market on the Green is an informal, community-driven gathering held on Friday afternoons on the Proctorsville Green. This space is generously made available by the Town of Proctorsville / Cavendish as a way to support local small businesses and foster community connection.
Please note the following
• This is not a town-sponsored or town-run event. Each vendor operates independently and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Town of Proctorsville / Cavendish.
• No vendor fees are collected, and participation is entirely voluntary.
• All vendors are responsible for carrying their own liability insurance.
• Town officials and volunteers are to be held harmless for any incidents, damages, or claims arising from vendor participation or customer interactions.
• This is a casual, community-led marketplace — not a formal or organized fair.
• By participating in or attending Market on the Green, you acknowledge that the event is hosted informally by individual vendors, and that the Town and its volunteers assume no responsibility or liability for any aspect of the market.
Parking
• Vendor vehicles must be parked away from the main village green after unloading – you can use the area behind the Super Roasted Coffee Shop (where the Old Crow Bakery used to be).
• Please ask the manager for designated parking if you don’t see it. Prepared Food Vendors
• Must provide their own trash receptacles (min. 13 gallons) and remove trash offsite.
• Use of at least three local ingredients is highly encouraged. • Collaboration with other local vendors is a plus!
Rule Violations & Disputes
• Violations will follow this three-step process: 1. Verbal Notice 2. Written Warning 3. Review and decision by the Market Committee (possible expulsion)
• Written complaints or concerns may be submitted to the Market Manager and reviewed by the committee.
